چکیده

The Department of Energy (DOE) faces many unique challenges in the automation of operations within each of Environmental Management’s focus areas. ARM Automation has developed a modular architecture that addresses many of the DOE’s automation requirements. This paper outlines technical progress of the first system being built, under Contract # DE-AC2698FT40371, using this modular approach; a robotic manipulator tailored to the needs of glove box operations constructed from two sizes of intelligent actuator modules, quick-connections, links and an open architecture system controller. The proposed test plan for quantifying this system as it applies to the DOE is then presented. This is followed by a synopsis of the overall applicability of modular robotic technology to DOE EM applications. Finally, ARM Automation is working under an SBIR award titled “Modular Robotics for Delivering On-Site Contamination Sensors and Mapping Systems to Difficult-to-Access Locations” to refine and apply this technology to an EM application. A description is given of ARM’s goal under the SBIR of exploring the application of the modular approach to another DOE application: presenting a sensor into a contaminated area that is in need of characterization.

Comparative analysis of automation of production process with industrial robots in Asia/Australia and Europe

The term "INDUSTRY 4.0" or "fourth industrial revolution" was first introduced at the fair in 2011 in Hannover. It comes from the high-tech strategy of the German Federal Government that promotes automation-computerization to complete smart automation, meaning the introduction of a method of self-automation, self-configuration, self-diagnosing and fixing the problem, knowledge and intelligent d...

A Modified Phase-Shifted Pulse Width Modulation to Extend Linear Operation of Hybrid Modular Multi-level Converter

Recently, hybrid modular multi-level converters, which are configured as full and half bridge sub-modules, are developed and utilized in the wide area of applications. Compared to its non-hybrid counterpart, these converters have several advantages such as the ability to nullify the DC side fault current and controlling AC side reactive power during the faults. This paper proposes a modified ph...

A fixed point approach to the Hyers-Ulam stability of an $AQ$ functional equation in probabilistic modular spaces

In this paper, we prove the Hyers-Ulam stability in$beta$-homogeneous probabilistic modular spaces via fixed point method for the functional equation[f(x+ky)+f(x-ky)=f(x+y)+f(x-y)+frac{2(k+1)}{k}f(ky)-2(k+1)f(y)]for fixed integers $k$ with $kneq 0,pm1.$

Modular robotic workcell for coagulation analysis.

BACKGROUND Total laboratory automation (TLA) has been shown to increase laboratory efficiency and quality. However, modular automation is smaller, requires less initial capital, and requires less planning than TLA. We engineered and performed clinical trials on a modular robotic preanalytical workcell for coagulation analysis. METHODS Timing studies were used to quantify the efficiency of the...

A Modular Robot System for Agricultural Applications

Agricultural tasks are manifold: Dependent on the crop, the environment and the desired plant maintenance operation, properties, such as modularity, robustness, compactness or user friendly interfaces, are advantageous for the automation using a robotic system. Therefore, several robotic manipulators have been designed and built for the requirements given by the EU-FP7 project CROPS for multipl...
